EATLACMA
Meg Patch
Since the end of June, LACMA has joined forces with a project called Fallen Fruit created by David Burns, Matias Viegener, and Austin Young. They have curated an exhibition at LACMA based on their work that runs until November 11, 2010 titled EATLACMA. This has been a yearlong project looking into the social role of food and art and the rituals of eating (specifically fruit from local fruit trees). EATLACMA will offer free activities at the museum and in the community, exploring issues like environmentalism, healthy living and sustainable agriculture, and how these themes relate to our lives. Examples of these activities are communal jam-making sessions with local fruit, or salsa making (called Salsa-Salsa) with dancing. For more information, follow the links.
