Hollywood 2010: The Art of Motion Picture Costume Design

Meg Patch

If you are a film buff then this week’s event might be your type of outing. For the past 17 years the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) Museum and Galleries has put on an exhibition of costume designs from the industries top films of the past year. This year’s exhibition features over 100 costumes from over 24 of last year’s movies such as The Young Victoria, Star Trek, Julie & Julia, An Education, Nine, Broken Embraces, and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. It is a once in a lifetime experience to be able to get up close and personal with these incredible designs and be able to gaze at all the beautiful details of the costumes. Another bonus of seeing this exhibition is the display from The Duchess which one an Academy Award® for Best Costume Design in 2008. Don’t miss the chance to see such important art in Los Angeles film history. This exhibit has already started and ends on April 17th. The free exhibition is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
